180_degree_rule.svg.png
A 180 degree line of action is the rule where there is an imaginary line which connects the characters and by keeping the camera on one side of the axis all the time in the scene. The character will always be frame right of the other character who is always on the left. if the camera crosses the line it will make the scene look stupid as the characters will have flipped.

A shot reverse shot is where one camera is shown looking at another character and the camera then shows the second character facing the character speaking. This shows that the characters are looking at each other.

Research!!

Shot reverse shot- is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character.

When you move across the line of action you’re effectively reversing the positioning of characters. This causes a very confusing look from the perspective of the audience. The camera angles don’t stay true to the actual positioning of the characters.

Match on action is a very sinple but essential tenchique, where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene and the scene continues to flow.

Match on action is where you have two cuts to show a movement but still make it smooth crating a visual bridge, it will distract the reader from any slight cutting issues.

180 degree rule explained

The 180 degree line of action is where the camera has to stay on one side of the actors. a line that the camera can't cross because it would flip the scene, and probably confuse the viewer

Shot reverse shot is usually shown in a conversation where one character is shown looking at another character and the camera will switch between the people to look at them as they are talking.
